Are you considering switching to natural beauty products with environmentally friendly packaging but unsure where to start? Then it's easy to make sustainable swops with just a few minor changes.
If, like most of us, you've got a bathroom full of plastic bottles & jars with products you're currently using, don't discard until you've used everything up, then recycle the empty containers.
When looking for beauty and bathroom products that create less waste, limit purchases of single-use items and opt for multi-tasking and reusable products.
MAKEUP REMOVAL PADS
Are you still using disposable cotton wool pads to remove your makeup or cleanse your face? Why not swap for cotton reusable wipes? We stock the leading brand cleansing cloth, CloudCloth®. This innovative product is a 2-in-1 wash & exfoliate organic cotton cloth with a soft side for cleansing your skin and removing makeup and a woven side to gently buff and refresh your complexion.
CloudCloth® is both washable and reusable. Manufactured in Manchester, this company has sustainability running through every aspect of its business.
These eco-friendly cloths are perfect for applying your favourite skin cleanser, soap or toner, or you can use them with water to refresh and revitalise your face.
Pop them in the washing machine with your other items, and then hang them up to dry in the bathroom using the sewn-in loop or hang them on the washing line.
What we love is that this is genuinely a zero-waste product.
SHAMPOO & SOAP BARS
Research shows that the average household can purchase over 100 plastic bottles of bath & beauty products yearly. Have you considered switching to a sustainable shampoo bar?
Full of natural ingredients, these paraben-free bars of soap are great for an all-over wash and your hair. They also help reduce plastic consumption.
We've all got so used to liquid soap & shampoo - it's convenient but not as planet friendly as a soap bar. Artisan or natural soap contains healthier ingredients and is plastic-free.
Try any one of our vegan shampoo bars; to clean your hair naturally. They create an incredible lather that gently cleanses the hair and scalp without stripping away natural protective oils. It can take a few hair washes before you adapt to using a shampoo bar versus liquid shampoo.
Our Shampoo, Shower & Shave bar has a fresh and fruity fragrance and contains Grapefruit Essential Oils and French Pink Clay. A bar of beautiful soap for all skin and hair types, plastic-free and hygienically wrapped.
DEODORANTS
Switching to a more eco-friendly deodorant is worth considering. The beauty industry is slowly catching up with the smaller independent brands, and several organic and natural deodorants are now available in supermarkets and pharmacies.
Most deodorant roll-ons or antiperspirant spray cans are non-recyclable. Switching to natural deodorants that come in recyclable containers causes less environmental damage.
Natural and vegan products are formulated without chemicals and are not tested on animals - making natural deodorants cruelty-free products.
Our favourite eco-brand is Starest Soothing Deodorant Balm; it comes in a glass jar with an aluminium lid. This generous-sized balm will last a long time, plus the pot and packaging are 100% recyclable.
The deodorant balm is gentle on the skin and effectively fights off odour-causing bacteria. It is handcrafted using 100% natural and organic ingredients that keep you fresh all day whilst leaving your skin soft and healthy. This gentle formula contains no sodium bicarbonate that can irritate the skin. Suitable for all skin types.
What we love
Neutralises odour
Soothes and nourishes
Fast absorbing
Unscented
Non-sticky and non-greasy feel
Suitable for men and women
100% natural and 84.5% organic
Big brand antiperspirants use aluminium chloride salts to block sweat from leaving pores. Natural deodorants that work just as well contain nothing nasty. Deodorant protects against odour, while antiperspirant protects against sweat too.
TOOTHPASTE TABLETS
I admit I was sceptical when first switching from my favourite toothpaste to a tablet. But I've found the change is economical and sustainable as the tablets come in a recyclable container. It's been good to ditch tube toothpaste as the tube and cap are non-recyclable.
I've tried several brands, but Parla is my favourite; the toothpaste tablets contain cavity-fighting fluoride and leave my mouth fresh and clean. Manufactured in the UK, it has a low carbon footprint for packing and shipping and ticks all boxes for eco-friendly tooth care!
What we love
Zero waste
Palm oil free
Plastic-free
SLS free
Animal cruelty-free
It contains fluoride
Vegan
Made in the UK

Naturally Whitening
Buying sustainable-made and packaged beauty products from small independents and shopping local is a fantastic way to reduce your carbon footprint.
