Dry body brushing is an ancient Ayurvedic technique that exfoliates the skin, opens detox pathways, and aids lymphatic drainage. Recently, it has gained popularity among celebrities and others. I've been practicing dry body brushing for a long time, and in this post I'll discuss some of the benefits.
Removes dead skin cells
Dry brushing and exfoliating help remove dead skin cells and improve circulation. There is no need to spend money on all those "miracle fixes" on the market; just using a gentle body brush once a week will help to enhance your skin's condition.

Using beauty accessories like a loofah, exfoliating mitt, or soft-bristled body brushes in your skincare routine helps keep your skin in top condition.

Smooths Skin
While cellulite is natural, specific techniques can help minimise its appearance. Cellulite is primarily caused by accumulated stagnant toxins in certain areas, predominantly the hips, thighs, abdomen, and buttocks, which dimples the skin.
The gentle use of a body brush helps stimulate skin cell renewal and improves skin texture. By using a body brush once or twice a week, your favourite moisturisers and body oils work better, giving you healthier skin naturally.
These benefits should motivate you to start exfoliating today!
For your face
For gentle exfoliation of your face, opt for an organic cotton facial cleansing cloth, such as Cloud Cloth, and exfoliating glycerin-rich soaps that care for your skin as they cleanse.

How to Dry Brush
Using a body brush made of natural soft bristles, start at the feet or ankles and work your way upward in long, gentle strokes on the limbs.
Next, move the brush in a circular motion on your torso and back.
Since this process can be too much for sensitive areas like the abdomen, chest and neck, lighten the pressure as needed.
You only need a few brush strokes, as going over the same area too long can irritate.
Use a soft body brush once per week and before you shower.

Top Tip: Be slightly gentler on areas that have thinner skin, like your neck and décolletage, as these are more prone to sensitivity and redness.
Feel Energised
Body brushing helps to boost circulation, which helps us feel more awake, making it the perfect morning ritual to start your day feeling energised and invigorated.

Never dry brush warts, moles or raised bumps and avoid using a dry brush or abrasive cloth on broken skin, such as cuts, scrapes or sunburnt skin.
If you haven't tried dry body brushing or perhaps seen it as another wellness fad, I hope today's article inspires you to try this age-old practice. From my experience, dry body brushing has changed the look and feel of my skin and is a feel-good, energising skincare routine.
